All over the country and around the world, cities are taking streets away from cars. They’re closing them down so shops and restaurants can use sidewalks, parking spots and entire lanes for social distancing.
Those places include Ann Arbor, Mich., my home town, and they include Maynard Street. I sat on the corner and looked at how it’s working, and also talked to urban experts including Richard Florida of the Creative Class Group.
